CCVESA Fire Prevention Poster Contest
Fire Prevention Week was October 9th through the 15th and once again we asked students in each of the Elementary Schools to help promote fire safety by designing a poster based on a specific theme.
The CCVESA Fire Prevention Committee selected the top 3 posters from each of the 3 grade levels at each school. These students were invited to the awards ceremony held on October 30, 2016 to be recognized for their posters. We also selected countywide winners from each of the 3 grade levels. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the contest in past years only 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders participate in the poster contest. The topics this year are as follows:
1 – Dial 9-1-1 in case of Emergency
3 – Smoke Alarms
5 – Exit Drills in the Home (EDITH)
During the awards ceremony 56 students were recognized from 7 of the counties Elementary Schools. Below are pictures of the County Champions for each grade level that were in attendance at the awards ceremony. Each of the 56 children who participated was given a certificate and a filled pencil pouch. Students who won 3rd place in the county received a fire safety cup. Students who received 2nd place in the county also received a fire safety cup and a red drawstring bag with a fire safety message. Students who received 1st place in the county also received the fire safety cup, the red drawstring bag, and a Sparky stuffed animal. Any student who was unable to attend the awards ceremony will have their poster, certificate, and gift delivered to their school to be distributed within a few days of the awards ceremony.
The CCVESA Fire Prevention Committee would like to thank the teachers who took time out of their busy schedules to promote our Poster Contest year after year and we look forward to holding the contest again next October.
